Brazil cross Gilberto off the team sheet
August 17, 2005
Gilberto Silva wasn’t even picked for the Brasil SUBS BENCH for the international friendly game against Croatia.
Out of 16 Brasilians to pick, Silva wasn’t one of them. Outrageous.
I, personally, am very offended by this, and will be doing my utmost to see that everybody ignores me, since I am not a international football manager.
Brasil drew 1-1 in the end, probably because Silva wasn’t playing.
Brasil started with Emerson and Zé Roberto in the middle of the park. That’s strange, because Silva is meant to be 100% fit.
Anyway. Gilberto will fly back to England tomorow – hopefully as refreshed as a fresh Brasilian flying home after not playing for Brasil. At least he won’t have picked up any injuries for the Chelsea vs. Arsenal game. Arsenal are going to need Gilberto if they are to soak up the Chelsea attack effectively. Arsenals first big crunch game of the season is drawing near, and Gilberto Silva will certainly not be missed off the team sheet.
Unlucky, Brasil. Croatia are a good side. No really! I’m not joking. They play Srna in midfield. Gasp.
