Friendly: Croatia vs. Brazil – preview
August 16, 2005
sambafoot.com has previewed Brasil’s friendly game against Croatia on Wednesday.
“The Seleção arrives in Croatia”.
The Brazilian national Team flew away Sunday for Split where it will face next Wednesday in Poljud Stadium, Croatia.
The single absence is the left back Gilberto, who is injured. Carlos Alberto Parreira called upon the Corinthians defender Gustavo Nery as replacement.
The national technician will be able to count on the return of the World Cup winners Cafu, Ronaldo and Roberto Carlos, who did not take part in the Confederations Cup gained last June in Germany.
It should also be noted that captain Cafu will be playing his 140th match for Brazil. This friendly match will be used as preparation for the next qualification game against Chile, September 4 in Brasilia.

It’s good to see that Gilberto is playing for Brasil – but an international game, only FOUR days into the premiership season? It is a bit much for a player, considering the long flight to-and-from England.
It is quite likely that Gilberto will partner Emerson in the midfield at the start of the game.
After the game is played, information on Gilberto and Brasil will be available in this same ‘Brasil’ sub forum.
Good luck to Gilberto against Croatia!
