Gilberto in Chelsea jibe
August 27, 2005
CHEEKY ARSENAL midfielder Gilberto has claimed watching Chelsea is just like a tennis match.
The Brazilian World Cup star is the latest in a string of Arsenal players who have backed their manager’s belief that the Gunners play the more attractive football.
Jose Mourinho’s men came off best in the Premiership encounter between the two teams two weeks ago, when striker Didier Drogba scored with his shin.
But Gilberto said last night: “Their style of play was strange, the long-ball tactic. It was difficult to understand and very frustrating to watch as well.
“At times it was like I was at a tennis match or something, I was just a spectator, my neck worked very hard that day.”
On one hand I think it’s best not to talk about Chelsea – but on the other hand, I love to see Gilberto talking about something other than how great Arsenal are. And he’s right.
