Valencia £10m for Gilberto? Probably not…
August 5, 2007
The English daily tabloid ‘The People’ reported today that Valencia had a bid of 10 million pounds turned down for Gilberto.
Here’s what their article says:
Arsenal have turned down a £10million bid for Gilberto Silva from Valencia.
The Spaniards are desperate to sign Gilberto, but Arsene Wenger knows he can’t lose another star.
The Arsenal boss had no choice but to let Thierry Henry join Barcelona, but if Gilberto quit it would be a disaster.
Valencia coach Quique Sanchez Flores made it clear he wanted the Brazilian (left) after the Emirates Cup last weekend.
Although the first bid was rejected, they will up their offer this week.
Sounds like rubbish to me! Firstly, who would pay ten million quid for a thirty year old? Secondly, Valencia have about 400 midfielders already; they are not ‘desperate’ for Gilberto. Thirdly, who seriously thinks that Wenger would let his most senior player, AND captain leave the club?
Smells like tabloid shite!
